After our outing to Westerdale I took the dogs up to Cawthorne in the afternoon. Minnie stopped on this bridge to have a sniff around and she looked down the ditch that heads west of here her nose twitching as she checked out some scent on the air.
Stopping here reminded me that this is actually an old track called Portergate that goes directly across the Roman camps.
From what I’ve read it’s a medieval path, probably a trade route, though I don’t know where it came from or where it ends! Would be interesting to try and follow its route though!
* thought it would be worth mentioning that a lot of the photos here are taken with my iPhone SE so are not representative of my project photos taken with my Canon 5D – boring techie stuff but important to us photographers!
