Projects in colour!

Over the last couple of weeks I decided to leave the large format camera and move in another direction for a change – colour digital! For the last 10 years or so I have been doing black and white analogue prints but not actually moving forward. The process was getting in the way of the content, even preventing me from acually getting out there to photograph. The thought of lugging the 10×8 or even the 5×4 around was starting to become a pain – in many ways! A change was needed. Backyard in December!

There’s an old adage in photography that says you don’t need to travel far to find a photograph. This one is from a corner in our garden. The bird bath belonged to a man called Bernard who lived in our village. Bernard lived here all his life until he passed away earlier this year. Before his house was sold we asked if we could take the bird bath from his garden and place it in a rose garden at the village hall that he had funded for his wife, Mavis, when she passed away. Last Friday I took a drive up to Hartoft – about a 15 minute drive from where I live – mainly to try out the Bender 10×8 that I modified with a new rail system. It worked well. I also wanted to try the 450mm Liesegang brass lens I bought a few years ago on eBay for £30. I was looking for a place that was sheltered as it was a windy day and I came across this Forestry track.
