November at Rock House Wood

MILLERPHOTO Posted on December 21, 2021 by ajmillerDecember 21, 2021

I had another couple of visits to the wood in November. I wanted to try the Hermagis 305mm brass lens wide open hence the ‘swirl’ towards the back and front of the print. It’s supposedly a ‘look’ that photographers want from these old lenses but I’m not sure I’m keen for my own work. Still, I was pleased with the print. What attracted me to this particular scene was the old wall which has been a boundary at some point but has been left to fall down over the years – probably when the area was taken over by the Forestry Commission. Darkroom session!

MILLERPHOTO Posted on March 7, 2021 by ajmillerMarch 7, 2021

I have a particularly decent set from our visits to Paris from 2008 to 2010. It was an eye opener! Some of the very early negatives hadn’t survived too well. My processing wasn’t up to scratch then and some of the negatives are starting to degrade – not massively – but from tiny (miniscule!) dark spots. On the print they hardly show up but when I scan them….well, I haven’t the patience to go through the scan and ‘heal’ the white spots! I’m not sure what it is … Continue reading →
